In the Early Years Foundation Stage, the curriculum is planned week by week to meet the children’s ever changing needs and interests. If your child is in EYFS, check the website each week to find out what your child will be learning.

Learning is linked to this week’s Twycross zoo trips – Children will be finding out about wild animals and their habitats.
Literacy: Little Red Hen – Retelling the story using actions and beginning to write sentences.
Maths: Calculation with money – Finding totals and solving problems such as ‘Do I have enough money to buy 2 apples? How do I know?
Summer 1 role play areas
Post office – Children will be learning how to send letters and postcards. They will use stamps and practise writing letters/postcards. Some children have already written letters to say thank you to the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park. These will be delivered on Monday.
Fire engine and a pet shop – Children will use mobile phones to take emergency calls for the fire brigade. They will practise taking notes and pretend to put out fires. In the pet shop the children will be encouraged to describe their pets and learn how to care for them. They will talk about the food the pets eat and write shopping lists.
Police station – The children will take emergency calls, make notes in note books and on sheets. They will then go out into the environement to look for clues again making notes. Children will learn how to describe people they are searching for using descriptive language.
Supermarket (outdoors) – Children will write shopping lists before hand, go shopping looking at prices and start to find totals of things they have bought. They will handle money, ask the shop keeper for items politely. They will also be encouraged to queue for the checkouts.
