On Monday 18th January 2016, 28 children from SHP visited Uplands Manor Primary School to continue their training as Song Leaders. The children learnt another ten songs to teach to other children at lunchtime.
SHP are delighted to be involved in the ‘Ex Cathedra Singing Playgrounds Programme 2015/16′, an award winning vocal project which offers schools the chance to develop their singing community through play, singing and social interaction. The children are trained to lead, share, adapt and create singing games.
Mrs Pawson, who is leading this project at SHP alongside Mrs Hardy, said:
Taking part in the songs at lunchtimes is a great way for children to develop key skills, such as leadership, patience and confidence, but will also help to create new friendships. No matter the weather – the songs are a great way to play, socialise and have fun together!
Every child is welcome to join in. To take part, children should watch out for the ‘Song Stop’ sign on the playground. That’s where you will find the Song Leaders teaching new songs.
Coming soon: The Song Leaders will have their own outdoor display on the playground which will give you more information about the project and how to take part!
