Today was the final exciting round of SHP’s first ever Spelling Bee competition.
All children from Years 1-6 were tasked with learning a set list of spellings from the National Curriculum appropriate to their year group. The top speller in each class competed in a Spelling Bee during their phase assembly this week. In Year 1 and Year 6, the phase assembly round reached deadlock so Mrs Chesney-Ly and Miss Holdstock had to find even trickier spellings to test these children on in our whole school assembly today!
The Spelling Bee winners were:
Amelia (Year 1)
Aashish (Year 2)
Aaliyah (Year 3)
Anokhi (Year 4)
Fatima (Year 5)
Mukhtar (Year 6)
Prizes for our winners were kindly donated by ABC Teachers. Hannah from ABC visited our assembly today to present the children with their prizes.
Mrs Chesney-Ly, English Leader, said:
What an achievement to be the best speller out of 90 children!
Well done to all of our winners and runners up!
