A few weeks ago, Year 3 visited the amazing Twycross Zoo in Warwickshire. Year 3 had previously been learning about the book ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne. In the story, the main character – Hannah – loves gorillas and can’t wait to finally explore the zoo on her birthday.
The children in Year 3 gained a better understanding of the story by visiting the zoo themselves, and the trip has served as an inspiration for writing on several occasions.
Year 3 even met a gorilla called Malaika – just like our very own Malaika in Ivy class! Here are some brilliant examples of the fantastic writing in Year 3:
