Art & Design
At Shireland Hall Primary Academy, we aim to provide every pupil with opportunities to experience the arts in its various forms throughout their school journey. Our goal is for pupils to experiment, invent, and create their own works of art, craft, and design. As they progress through our art curriculum, pupils will build a strong foundation of embedded and sequenced knowledge and skills, enabling them to grow as confident artists. They will understand their current stage in their learning journey and know what steps to take for improvement.
We believe that creativity is an act of self-discovery and plays a crucial role in shaping imaginative, creative, and culturally aware individuals who will carry a lifelong appreciation for the arts in all its forms. Our pupils will critically engage with a diverse range of ancient, traditional, modern, and contemporary artists, exploring significant time periods and art movements while gaining an understanding of the key concepts behind them. They will learn that improvement is personal, developing the confidence to express their own creative voices in ways that reflect their unique artistic tastes and preferences.
We aim to inspire, engage, and challenge pupils by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, create, make mistakes, and understand that success comes in many forms. Additionally, we strive to make our projects purposeful, promoting our green curriculum by creating greener spaces and enhancing the school’s natural environment.
Food Technology
At Shireland Hall Primary Academy, we believe in equipping our students with the essential skills and knowledge to become confident, independent and health-conscious individuals. We are committed to fostering a love for cooking and empowering our young chefs to create simple yet healthy meals at home while also considering factors such as economy, speed and ease.
Our intent is to provide students with the necessary tools, guidance and understanding of nutrition to make informed choices when it comes to meal preparation. By instilling the joy and importance of cooking, we aim to inspire our students to take an active role in their own well-being and to share their newfound skills with their families and friends.
