Admissions

If you wish to apply for a place at Shireland Hall Primary Academy for your child, please see the relevant section below depending on the age of your child.  All prospective parents are encouraged to contact school to book a place on our next Open Day or to request a visit.

Nursery Admissions Process

At Shireland Hall we offer free nursery places (15 hours per week) to children form the age of three.  If your child attends another Nursery setting, the 15 free hours can be transferred to Shireland Hall and additional hours elsewhere would be paid for, or form part of a 30 hours allocation if entitled.

Subject to availability of places, nursery age children attend EITHER:

 Acorns Class: 8:30am - 3:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and 8:30am - 12:30pm on Wednesdays

OR

Conkers Class: 12:30pm - 3:30pm on Wednesdays and 8:30am - 3:30pm on Thursdays and Fridays


If you would like to apply for a Nursery place for your child at Shireland Hall Primary Academy, the following process applies:

1. Download and complete the 'NurseryApplication' form (below)

2. Return either a hard copy or electronic version of the completed form to the academy

Reception Admissions Process

Applications for Reception places at Shireland Hall Primary Academy are welcomed from families living in any local authority.  Children start in Reception during the September following their fourth birthday.  The application window usually open in October, and closes mid-January prior to the September the child would start in Reception.

Applications for Reception places MUST be made through the child's home local authority.   The application process varies between LAs so please contact the local authority in which the child lives for further information.

Mid-Year Admissions Process

If you would like your child to move to Shireland Hall Primary Academy from another school, in any year group other than during the first term of Reception, the following process applies:

1. Download and complete the 'Primary School Application' mid-year transfer application form (below)

2. Return either a hard copy or electronic version of the completed form to the academy

3. The Academy identifies whether a place is available in the relevant year group

3. When a place is offered, the academy will make contact with parents or carers to arrange for full pupil admission details to be collected, an induction visit to be arranged and a start date to be agreed

4. Waiting lists are re-set each September.  If your child is on the waiting list and has not been offered a place by the end of the academic year, the application will need to be re-submitted at the start of the next academic year in order to remain on the waiting list.
